This Toronto born LA based striking leggy 5'10 1/2 " powerhouse started her performing career as a ballet dancer touring the United States and Canada. Due to a temporary knee injury, she began acting in a variety of stage productions showing a wide range of skills in drama, farce, musicals and the classics. Currently the Gemini nominated Ellen stars as passionate journalist Jeri Slate in the Leo award winning supernatural series THE COLLECTOR which shows in 65 countries and was recently sold in the US. Her affinity for unique sci fi roles can be seen in the new vampire series BLOOD TIES for Lifetime where she plays a shape shifter. Other diverse roles include : DEAD ZONE, MUTANT X, ADVENTUE INC. , TRACKER starring Adrian Paul, HIGHLANDER:THE RAVEN (the only broad to broad broadsword fight in the show's history) , FIRST WAVE , EARTH:FINAL CONFLICT, RELIC HUNTER, MUTANT X , FOREVER KNIGHT (her first job in the sci fi genre) and the ABC/MIRAMAX mini-series A WRINKLE IN TIME playing a 200 pound blind healer Aunt Beast. The statuesque Ellen also spent four seasons on the world-wide cult hit series LEXX , playing four different characters , most notably the wild and sexy GIGGEROTA THE WICKED . She was also the first and probably only female pope in sci-fi history. Favorite movies of the week include SWARMED opposite Michael Shanks for the sci fi network and ABDUCTED with Sara Wynter (24) on Lifetime. Film credits include the award winning SUNDANCE blockbuster film NAPOLEON DYNAMITE which has the distinction of being one of the top comedies of all times and NEVER TOO LATE with Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis.
Ellen is a member of the Academy of Canadian Film and Cinema and of Women in Film and Television in the US and Canada. She also feeds the homeless at the Los Angeles Mission and sits on the board of KIDS WITH A CAUSE in California and will soon be working with the MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION.
